Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD)
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the largest funding organization in the world supporting the international exchange of students and scholars. Since it was founded in 1925, more than 1.5 million scholars in Germany and abroad have received DAAD funding. The funding offers range from a year abroad for undergraduates to doctoral programmes, from internships to visiting lectureships, and from information gathering visits to assisting with the establishment of new universities abroad.

DAAD Undergraduate Scholarship:
Highly qualified undergraduate students are invited to apply for scholarships funding study, senior thesis research and/or internships in Germany. The goal of this program is to support study abroad in Germany and at German universities. Preference will be given to students whose projects or programs are based at and organized by a German university. Scholarships are available either as part of an organized study abroad program or as part of an individual, student-designed study abroad semester or year. Recipients will be awarded a monthly stipend plus additional funds to help defray travel and research expenses as well as health insurance. Open to students who are currently in their second or third undergraduate year and will be in their third or fourth year during their stay in Germany. German language ability is not a requirement for this grant, however students should demonstrate language skills commensurate with their study and research needs.

DAAD Study Scholarship:
Highly qualified graduating seniors and recent graduates of all disciplines may apply for the DAAD Study Scholarship for a year of independent study or a full master’s degree program at a German university. Applicants in all academic fields are welcome to apply. German language ability is not a requirement for this grant, however students should demonstrate language skills commensurate with their study and research needs. Recipients will be awarded a monthly stipend as well as health insurance.

DAAD University Summer Course Grant
This program provides scholarships to attend a broad range of three- to four-week summer courses at German universities which focus mainly on German language and literary, cultural, political and economic aspects of modern and contemporary Germany. Extensive extracurricular programs complement and reinforce the core material. Scholarships cover tuition, room and board in whole or in part, and an international travel subsidy. There are no restrictions as to field of study, but applicants must have completed a minimum of four semesters of college German. For the natural sciences and engineering, and if English can be spoken at the host institute or if the study programme is taught in English, proof of good English language skills may also be accepted. Open to students who are currently in their second or third year.
