Amelia Earhart Fellowship

The Amelia Earhart Fellowship program helps talented women, pursuing advanced studies in the typically male-dominated fields of aerospace-related sciences and engineering, achieve their educational goals. The Fellowship enables these women to invest in state-of-the-art computers to conduct their research, purchase expensive books and resource materials, and participate in specialized studies around the globe.

American Association of Law Libraries George A. Strait Minority Stipend

George A. Strait Minority Scholarships are awarded annually to college graduates with meaningful law library experience who are members of a minority group as defined by current U.S. government guidelines, are degree candidates in an accredited library or law school, and who intend to have a career in law librarianship. Applicants must show evidence of financial need.

American Association of University Women (AAUW) Grants

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) has a long and distinguished history of advancing educational and professional opportunities for women in the United States and around the globe.  One of the world’s largest sources of funding for graduate women, AAUW provides funding for more than 245 fellowships and grants to outstanding women and nonprofit organizations.

American Bar Association Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund

The ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship grants 20 incoming racially and ethnically diverse law students with $15,000 of financial assistance over the course of their three years in law school.  These exceptional recipients have overcome adversity, proven themselves through academic success and public service, and demonstrated the tenacity to excel within the profession. All of the Scholars have committed themselves to public service either prior to, during, or after law school. From volunteering with at-risk youth to participating in their firm’s pro bono projects, these Scholars are serving the needs of those within their community.

American Physiological Society Summer Research Programs

The American Physiological Society (APS) offers five programs that allow undergraduate students to participate in research during the summer. Recipients of the Society’s five summer fellowship programs spend an average of 10 weeks in the laboratory of an established scientist and APS member.

American Psychological Association Summer Science Fellowship

The APA Summer Science Fellowship program (SSF) aims to immerse advanced undergraduate students in the science of psychology by exposing them to the excitement and promise of the best of psychological science.  An expenses-paid, intensive summer training program, the SSF will place up to 12 talented students in the psychology laboratories of some of the most outstanding researchers in the Washington, DC area for 6 weeks.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers Scholarships

Mechanical engineering encompasses a dynamic field of knowledge with lifelong learning opportunities. Financial aid for undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology is available through various scholarships listed on the ASME Scholarship website. Amgen Scholars Summer Research Program

The Amgen Scholars Program provides hundreds of undergraduate students with the opportunity to engage in a hands-on summer research experience at some of the world’s leading institutions.  A listing of current US institutions can be found here.  Washington and Lee students are eligible to apply to programs in the US (US citizens only) and Japan (students of all nationalities).

Argonne National Laboratory Undergraduate Internships and Fellowships (DOE)

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory, a major research center, offers opportunities for college and university undergraduate students to participate in the Laboratory’s ongoing research programs. In addition to such opportunities, the U.S. Department of Energy directly sponsors research participation at other DOE facilities. At Argonne, college/university students may obtain research experience through the Department of Energy’s Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships Program (SULI) or one of several other internship programs.  Housing, transportation, and stipends are provided to participants.

Autry Fellowship

The Autry Fellowship is a competitive fellowship program for talented and ambitious recent college graduates. It provides an opportunity to work for one year as a full-time, paid staff member at MDC (originally known as “Manpower Development Corp.”). The Autry Fellowship supports the mission of MDC–to help organizations and communities in the South close the gaps that separate people from opportunity–by developing a cadre of young leaders who have experience promoting economic development, increasing equity and excellence in education, building inclusive civic cultures, and who are poised and ready to apply their new learning to benefit this region.
