Charles Koch Institute Fellow and Internship Programs

The Charles Koch Institute is an educational organization focused on the importance of free societies and how they increase well-being for the overwhelming majority of people. Through the Institute’s professional education, research, and training programs, they work to prepare professionals for careers that improve well-being by advancing free societies.  For more than two decades, Charles G. Koch has given professionals and students the opportunity to turn their passion for liberty into careers through professional education programs.  Several programs might be of interest to W&L students.  Programs are offered in the fall, spring, and summer.

DOE Scholars Program

The DOE Scholars Program provides internship opportunities at various DOE sites to gain first-hand experience and training in the fields of science, engineering, technology, business, and related professions that support the mission of the U.S. Department of Energy. Participants in the DOE Scholars Program gain a competitive edge as they apply their education, talent and skills in a variety of scientific research settings within the DOE complex.

Humane Studies Fellowships

Humane Studies Fellowships (HSF) are awarded to full-time graduate students embarking on liberty-advancing careers in ideas. The fellowships support study in a variety of fields, including economics, philosophy, law, political science, history, and sociology.  HSF is open to full-time and prospective graduate students, including law students. Exceptional candidates with an evident intention of advancing liberty through other intellectual activities, such as teaching, policy analysis, and law, will also be considered.

Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship

The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship Programs provide academic and professional preparation for outstanding candidates to enter the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service, representing America’s interests abroad. Pickering Fellows are undergraduate and graduate students in academic programs relevant to international affairs, political and economic analysis, administration, management, and science policy.

Villers Fellowship for Health Care Justice

The Villers Fellow works as a full-time policy analyst in Families USA’s Health Policy Department. The Fellowship is based in the Families USA office in Washington, D.C. and is designed to provide the Fellow with a national perspective on health care justice work and the opportunity to learn about a range of health care justice issues.
