A. Paul Knight Internship Program in Conservation

The A. Paul Knight program was established in memory of Paul Knight of the class of 1986 who was killed in Yellowstone Park in June 1985. Paul was the son of Albert F. Knight, a 1951 graduate of the Washington and Lee Law School. Paul was an anthropology major who had worked with Professor John McDaniel on several field projects in archaeology. The program is designed to fund projects that further the protection of the environment or provide ecologically sound outdoor recreational opportunities.  Undergraduate students from any major and law students interested in the environment are eligible for the Knight Internship.

American Association of Law Libraries George A. Strait Minority Stipend

George A. Strait Minority Scholarships are awarded annually to college graduates with meaningful law library experience who are members of a minority group as defined by current U.S. government guidelines, are degree candidates in an accredited library or law school, and who intend to have a career in law librarianship. Applicants must show evidence of financial need.

American Association of University Women (AAUW) Grants

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) has a long and distinguished history of advancing educational and professional opportunities for women in the United States and around the globe.  One of the world’s largest sources of funding for graduate women, AAUW provides funding for more than 245 fellowships and grants to outstanding women and nonprofit organizations.

Elrod Fellowship

The John and Mimi Elrod Fellowship provides opportunities for recent Washington and Lee University graduates to develop a lifelong commitment to civic engagement and to prepare for civic leadership. The competitive fellowship program connects young alumni with innovative public service organizations that address poverty and significant social issues in the fields of healthcare, law, education, economic development and housing. In turn, organizations that participate in the fellowship program gain access to a motivated and highly-qualified pool of applicants who are committed to exploring and serving the public sector for at least a year and sometimes two.

Harry S. Truman Scholarship

The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation awards merit-based scholarships to college students who plan to pursue careers in government or elsewhere in public service. Truman Scholars receive funding for graduate or professional school, participate in leadership development activities, and have special opportunities for internships and employment with the federal government.

Humane Studies Fellowships

Humane Studies Fellowships (HSF) are awarded to full-time graduate students embarking on liberty-advancing careers in ideas. The fellowships support study in a variety of fields, including economics, philosophy, law, political science, history, and sociology.  HSF is open to full-time and prospective graduate students, including law students. Exceptional candidates with an evident intention of advancing liberty through other intellectual activities, such as teaching, policy analysis, and law, will also be considered.

NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

The NCAA awards up to 174 postgraduate scholarships annually, 87 for men and 87 for women. The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition.  The one-time, non-renewable grants are awarded for fall sports, winter sports and spring sports. Each sports season (fall, winter and spring), there are 29 scholarships available for men and 29 scholarships available for women.

NCAA Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholarship

The National Collegiate Athletic Association established the Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholarship Program as a means of  encouraging excellence in academic performance by student-athletes. Under this program, one male and one female student-athlete are annually awarded a postgraduate scholarship in recognition of outstanding academic achievement and potential for success in postgraduate study. It is intended that an individual named a Byers Scholar will be recognized as one who has combined the best elements of mind and body to achieve national distinction for his or her achievements, and promises to be a future leader in his or her chosen field of career service.

Omprakash creates transformative educational experiences by connecting grassroots social impact organizations around the world with an audience of volunteers, donors, and classrooms that can learn from and support their work.  They seek to provide affordable opportunities for individuals to build meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships with grassroots social impact organizations around the world.

Oxford Pershing Square Graduate Scholarship

The Pershing Square Foundation has endowed up to five scholarships per year, which support extraordinary individuals in developing and realising their potential as future global leaders by fully funding the MBA year of the Oxford 1+1 programme.  The Oxford 1+1 MBA is a unique, two-year postgraduate experience that combines the depth of a specialised, one-year Master’s degree with the breadth of a top-ranking, one-year MBA. Through the 1+1 programme, the Saïd Business School partners with nine other University of Oxford departments to link a diverse selection of MSc programmes to the MBA:
