Catholic Volunteer Network

Catholic Volunteer Network, established in 1963, is a non-profit membership organization of 215 domestic and international volunteer and lay mission programs.  Catholic Volunteer Network fosters and promotes full-time domestic and international faith-based volunteer service opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds, and skills. They maintain a searchable database of volunteer opportunities.

Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh (CNUP) Summer Research Program

Each summer, the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh (CNUP) sponsors a 10-week program in which selected undergraduate students conduct research investigating diverse aspects of nervous system function under the guidance of individual CNUP training faculty.  CNUP training faculty investigate diverse aspects of nervous system function. Consequently, the technical features of an undergraduate summer research project might include neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, molecular biology, brain imaging, computer simulations, neuropsychology, or behavioral assessments.  Student recipients of this competitive fellowship will receive a stipend and will be provided housing at no cost.

Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Internships

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) offers full and part-time internships in the fall, spring and summer for undergraduates, advanced students, and recent graduates who are interested in gaining practical experience in public policy.  Interns participate in a variety of activities that support individual programs, including research, writing, and project development.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Research Participation Programs

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Research Participation Programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are educational and training programs designed to provide students, recent graduates, and university faculty opportunities to participate in project-specific CDC research, current public health research and developmental activities.

Charles Koch Institute Fellow and Internship Programs

The Charles Koch Institute is an educational organization focused on the importance of free societies and how they increase well-being for the overwhelming majority of people. Through the Institute’s professional education, research, and training programs, they work to prepare professionals for careers that improve well-being by advancing free societies.  For more than two decades, Charles G. Koch has given professionals and students the opportunity to turn their passion for liberty into careers through professional education programs.  Several programs might be of interest to W&L students.  Programs are offered in the fall, spring, and summer.

Christian A. Johnson Endeavor Grant for International Student Collaboration

A grant from the Christian A. Johnson Endeavor Foundation in support of W&L’s strategic initiative in global learning will provide support for international student collaboration.

College Board’s Scholarship Search

The College Board’s Scholarship Search helps students find scholarships, financial aid, and internships.  To identify funding for study abroad, select “Study Abroad” under eligibility requirements on page 3 of the search criteria.

Collegiate Inventors Competition

The Collegiate Inventors Competition recognizes and rewards undergraduate and graduate students who are committed to research, discovery, invention and innovation.  Entries from all fields of study are encouraged because the inventive spirit can emerge from any course, any university and any student. Entries must be the original idea and work product of a student or team of students with his or her university advisor and must not have been (1) made available to the public as a commercial product or process, (2) described in extensive detail in a publication more than one year prior to the date of submission, or (3) issued a patent more than one year prior to the date of submission.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Public Policy Fellowships

Begin your path toward becoming one of our nation’s future Latino policymakers. Recent college graduates can take advantage of this paid fellowship, which opens doors for talented young Latinos who are pursuing a career in public policy. You will spend nine months working in Washington, D.C., with significant exposure to leaders in congressional offices, federal agencies, national nonprofit advocacy organizations, government-related institutes, and more—growing both personally and professionally during your fellowship experience.
